Cage sums instead of given digits — easy, medium, or hard
Updated Sep 17, 2026
Killer sudoku is sudoku crossed with arithmetic. The 9×9 grid still needs every row, column and 3×3 box to contain 1 to 9 exactly once, but instead of starting digits you get dotted cages, each labelled with the total its cells must add up to. No digit repeats inside a cage. Pick a difficulty, click Generate, and you get a fresh puzzle with exactly one solution plus a printable PDF with the answer key. Good for solvers who have exhausted plain sudoku, for maths enrichment, and for puzzle books that need a harder tier.

Frequently asked questions
The 1 to 9 rules for rows, columns and boxes are identical. What changes is the clues: instead of given digits you get cages with a target sum, and no digit may repeat within a cage. Most killer sudoku puzzles start with no given digits at all.
