Free Printable Futoshiki Puzzles

Futoshiki is a Latin square with greater-than signs between some cells: fill each row and column with the numbers once each, obeying every inequality. Ten puzzles per pack in three sizes, single solutions, keys at the back. It suits a pre-algebra class introducing inequality notation as much as a coffee break.

Questions

What do the arrows mean?

Each sign points at the smaller of the two cells it sits between, so the wide end is the larger number.

Where should I start?

With chains of inequalities. Three cells in a rising chain inside a 5x5 grid pin their possible values sharply, and any cell at the end of a long chain must be an extreme value.

Are answers included?

Yes, at the back of every pack.

Is it good for a maths class?

Yes. It is the cleanest way to practise reading inequality signs without any arithmetic at all.
